Ukrainian Man Reveals "Deputy Mayor Father Has Cryptocurrency Assets" Before Being Tortured to Death by Classmates: Forced to Disclose Password
BlockBeats News, December 14th. At the end of November this year, a cryptocurrency-related car arson murder case occurred in Vienna, Austria. Two suspects have recently been arrested in Ukraine. The victim was Daniil Kuzmin, the 21-year-old son of Sergei Kuzmin, the Deputy Mayor of Kharkiv, Ukraine. One of the suspects is Alexander Agafiev, a 45-year-old former Ukrainian customs officer, and the other is Bogdan Reenzhuk, the 19-year-old stepson of Olesia Irashko, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Bulgaria.
The motive of the suspects was to obtain Daniil's cryptocurrency wallet password. Daniil was studying in Vienna and had disclosed to one of the suspects that his father was the Deputy Mayor of Kharkiv and had cryptocurrency assets. A spokesperson for the Vienna police confirmed that there was a large transfer record in Daniil's cryptocurrency wallet, and when the two suspects were arrested in Ukraine, a large amount of US dollars was found on them.
Daniil was attacked in the underground parking lot of the Sofitel Hotel in Vienna. Bloodstains at the scene indicated that he was assaulted in the parking lot. The police believe that Daniil was locked in the car for several hours, tortured during this time, until he revealed the passwords to two cryptocurrency wallets. Afterwards, Daniil was taken to another location. After emptying his cryptocurrency wallets, the suspects threw Daniil in the back seat of the vehicle and set the car on fire. The burnt black Mercedes-Benz car had Ukrainian plates and belonged to Daniil's family.
The 19-year-old suspect, Bogdan, is the stepson of Olesia, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Bulgaria. His biological father is the son of Ivan Reenzhuk, a well-known Ukrainian businessman who was previously prosecuted for financial crimes but was acquitted in 2021. The other suspect, 45-year-old Alexander, is a former employee of the Odessa Customs Office who served as a department head. Police found nearly $90,000 on him.
