Ethereum Foundation Leadership Restructure: Tomasz Stańczak Steps Down as Co-Executive Director
BlockBeats News, February 13th, Tomasz Stanczak announced that he will step down as Co-Executive Director (co-ED) of the Ethereum Foundation (EF) at the end of February 2026. Current executive Bastian Aue will serve as interim Co-lead with Hsiao-Wei Wang.
Stanczak stated that during his tenure, the Foundation has outlined a clear roadmap for the future and strengthened strategic focuses on scalability, privacy, AI integration, and institutional adoption. He noted that Ethereum is gradually becoming the "underlying infrastructure for validation and financial transactions," emphasizing the continued growth of stablecoins and on-chain Real World Assets (RWA) activities.
At the protocol level, the Foundation plans to release an integrated roadmap for LEAN Ethereum and core development to provide guidance for coordination in 2026 and beyond; meanwhile, advancing quantum security strategies and decentralized AI standardization. In addition, the Foundation has convened discussions with over 20 Layer2 teams on scalability and interoperability issues.
This personnel change comes just about 9 months after the Foundation formally established the Co-Executive Director structure in April 2025. At that time, Aya Miyaguchi assumed the role of Executive Director, and board members like Vitalik Buterin proposed a strategic direction focused on enhancing scalability, optimizing user experience, and ecosystem development.
